Bogazici University is a leading university in Turkey, with a 150 years history and a strong tradition of international collaborations. The Engineering Faculty is the most preferred undergraduate school in Turkey and admits students in the top 0.1 % of high school graduates. The Computer Engineering Department, with its 21 full-time faculty members, has the best research record (1.5 journal papers per faculty member per year) and the largest graduate program in Turkey, with approximately 200 graduate students, enrolled in 2-year master of science (with thesis) and PhD programs.
Computer Engineering Department holds the largest research groups on Computer and Sensor Networks, Video and Image Processing, and Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. In addition to these three fields, the research interests of the faculty members further span a wide spectrum ranging from embedded system design and real time operating systems to parallel and distributed computing and multiagent systems, including all aspects such as multimedia communications and security. The faculty members have won several awards such as ICPR best paper award, IEEE Computer Society top 10 downloaded paper, European Biometric Forum award, and World Championship in the Technical Challenge category of 4-Legged Robot Soccer League, ROBOCUP 2006. They have carried out many national projects, with a total budget of about 30 Million Euros in the last 15 years. They have become members of the FP6 NoE projects Biosecure and SIMILAR and also FP7 projects FireSense and SEE-GRID-SCI.
